Underwater Fine Art Prints
The Story
There are partnerships built on opportunity—and then there are partnerships built on time, trust, and shared experience. This is the latter.
Over 25 years ago, in Varadero, a chance meeting turned into a lifelong connection. I met Manuel Pedro Carmenate Martinez—Manolo—when he was already an accomplished scuba instructor. A friend and I signed up for a course. Manolo was our instructor. That decision changed more than just a vacation—it started a bond that would span decades.
From that point on, every trip back to Cuba became an opportunity to reconnect. We dove together, explored the island, and built a friendship that felt more like family. One of the most unforgettable experiences we shared was a bull shark feeding dive in Playa Santa Lucia—a moment that captures both the intensity and beauty of the underwater world that defines Manolo’s life.
At the time we met, Manolo had already logged over 5,000 dives. Today, he stands among the most experienced divers in Cuba, holding the highest level of certification as an instructor evaluator. But what sets him apart is not just experience—it’s evolution.
On one trip, I brought a camera—an early underwater setup. I wasn’t using it outside of my travels, so Manolo asked if he could keep it and experiment during his dives. What followed was something neither of us could have predicted.
Manolo didn’t just take photos—he mastered the craft.
He immersed himself in underwater photography with the same discipline and passion that defined his diving career. By the time I returned, he wasn’t just showing me pictures—he was showing me trophies. International competition wins. Recognition. Validation.
Today, a room in his home is filled with awards, medals, and honors. He continues to win—and judge—underwater photography competitions across Cuba. More importantly, he teaches others, mentors the next generation, and shares his knowledge with a level of generosity that reflects who he is at his core.
His work—especially in macrophotography—reveals a world that most people will never see. Details invisible to the naked eye become striking compositions. Colors, textures, and life forms emerge with clarity and depth. Each image is not just a photograph—it’s a discovery.
This partnership is about more than art. It’s about bringing that hidden world to a global audience.
Manolo’s journey is not one of privilege or access—it is one shaped by resilience, curiosity, and relentless dedication. That is what gives his work its character. Its authenticity. Its edge.
The result is a collection that is both exclusive and deeply human—refined in quality, yet grounded in real experience.
This is not mass-produced imagery.
This is earned perspective.
And it is a privilege to share it.
